Theater Opportunites

The Quinnipiac Theater program invites students from all majors to get involved in our theater community. Opportunites exist to perform and assist fellow actors throughout the school year and beyond.

‘Professor Woland’s Black Magic Rock Show’ Auditions

‘Professor Woland’s Black Magic Rock Show’ deals with the interplay of good and evil, innocence and guilt, courage and cowardice, exploring such issues as the responsibility towards truth when authority would deny it, and the freedom of the spirit in an unfree world.

The concept for this new musical retelling is inspired by Bulgakov’s own history of censorship and repression under Stalinist times, and by the courageous resistance of radical artists and rock musicians like Pussy Riot. In our version, Woland and his demonic retinue are a band of dissident rock musicians in a totalitarian state on the eve of a dangerous performance that may cost them everything.

Preparing for the Audition

Students should prepare 90 seconds of a monologue and 90 seconds of music. Music backing tracks should be played from their phone or Bluetooth speaker; rock music encouraged! Students of all gender expressions, sexualities, races, ethnicities and experience levels are encouraged to audition.
